Soo Joo Park

Soo Joo Park is a model from South Korea who is fast becoming a huge hit and the next big thing! (if not already) She is based in New York and has worked for many global magazines from Vogue to Elle and lots of stuff in between.

As we all know from other models like Linda Evangelista and Tao Okamoto (the famous bowl haircut), changes in haircuts or hairstyles can bring attention to that model. This is the case for Soo Joo Park who bleached her long black hair platinum blonde.

I came across her on Instagram (thanks to Nikki)  where I spotted the chameleon model sporting all sorts of gorgeous shades of color as well as totally different looks.  So, I decided to showcase some of my favorites , although I must warn you that there were a lot of favorites so hopefully I don’t overdo it here. Anyway enjoy the many looks of this edgy in- demand model of the ‘Now’!

Will be showing you many more from this site… Thanks guys for putting together such a great site.

Optique Collection by Tracey Hughes

Came across these fantastic looks a while back but finally came across the full collection so I wanted to share it with you. Here is a excerpt from American Salon magazine, where it was featured exclusively..

‘French romanticism is the heart of the new Optique collection from Australian artist Tracey Hughes and the Mieka Hairdressing team. Encompassing smooth graphic shapes, disheveled texture, boldly cut fringes, rounded edged and intricate braids, the hairstyles strike the perfect balance between classic and edgy. Ultra feminine fashions combined with chic minimalist eye make up and dramatic dark lips complete the glamorous effect. Optique draws inspiration from an era of expensive and elegant tastes, creating seamlessly flawless images, says Hughes, who is artistic director for Redken Australia and winner of the 2011 Australian Masters and Australian Salon of the Year awards. I chose to shoot in black and white to capture the feel of iconic classic and contemporary feminine looks.’

Romantic Braids..

I know I have already done a post about braids but I came across these pictures with these lovely romantic looking braids from Modern Salon magazine and wanted to share with you..

The hair was styled by Vivienne MacKinder who is the founder of HairDesignerTV.com as well as being Fashion Director for Intercoiffure America-Canada.

‘This collection features a blend of fishtail braids, three-strand reverse and three strand rope braids, using strategic placement of Simplicity hair extensions and combining backcomb, blending  and combining different shapes enhanced by push-pull effects. Vivienne was eager to bring romance sophistication and softness to braids in this Modern Collection as they can often appear beach or juvenile.’

‘There is a true art to Braiding, demanding great dexterity and skills, Its all about fashion that stands out, yet fits in.’ says MacKinder.

My Pick ~ Eugene Souleiman

Time and time again, I randomly pick out visions and styles that impress me or that attract my attention and these days I really shouldn’t be so surprised when yet again I have chosen to showcase another or Eugene Souleiman’s (from Wella) creations.

That man is talented big time!! I LOVE his work and even though shown here (from Marie Claire magazine) is a very classic simple style, he always manages (with the help of the photographer and make up artist of course) to creative an artistic quirky unique look. Keep up the good work, its lovely to follow….

Ling Tan ~ Supermodel

My good friend and journalist Stevie Wong first brought my attention to China’s first supermodel afew months back, so as I was looking into her work, I was impressed with some of the campaigns she had done and absolutely loved the hair in a lot of them,  I thought I would show you afew of my faves.

First abit of background stuff on Ling..

Ling Tan who’s full name is Tan Mang Ling was South East Asia’s first supermodel. An Malaysian Chinese model who was born in Kuala Lumpur, speaks 4 dialects of Chinese as well and Malay and English.

Her works includes absolutely ALL known top designers, brands and campaigns and has worked with just as many fashion photographers, way too many to list here, believe me its an incredible list, check our her Wikipedia page!

If all that isn’t enough she has also made commercials for Pantene, Armani Fragrances, Ford Edge and appeared in George Michaels music video Fast Love.

Lin recently came out of retirement to walk the runway for Givenchy 2010 and 2011, and was also recently signed with Wilhelmina Models in NYC 2011. Once a supermodel, always a supermodel, right?

Nina Khazani

I found this artist From the Royal College of Art 2012, who works with cut hair and thought her work was very unique.  Whether you think of it as slightly creepy, you cant help but admit it is very creative. Strange to think that many people think of their own hair as their crowning glory but detached and to actually wear someone else’s on you, I think a lot of people might not want to go there.. right?  Here are some great images that shows hair used as a different  art form as shown by Khazani.

Here is an intro from her own blog/webpage:

A hairy tale

I believe that hair inherits power and beauty and is the ultimate garment growing from within us. It is part of our body,
and therefore part of our identity, it helps us to differentiate ourselves as individuals yet at the same time it is changeable and detachable.
It is beautiful and soft and yet stubborn to work with. It likes to go its own way but so do I.
Sometimes the perfect hair seems to last only for a moment.
Its always in movement and undergoes various transformations. I gain pleasure of controlling it and transforming it into living objects and jewellery.
Through my work I intend to tell stories and evoke emotions by capturing a moment of beauty and making it last longer than a glimpse of time.

The Latest Trend ~ Top Knots…

I’m really not sure how this trend ever started but would you really call this style?

I’m sorry, I know this is a big hit with everyone right now, but I cant help but feel like this is a look for lolling around at home or for jumping in the shower, (which is when I usually have my hair like this for)  but for it to appear outdoors in public on everyone from Miley Cyrus to Nicole Ritchie (who I have every respect for when it comes to style) but still, I’m just not feeling this one.

Sorry to the girls at Dekko, just my point of view.. Here’s an article from Star magazine this week about it, I must say I do think Julianne Hough’s looks pretty cool on her, cos it looks abit more than a round ball on top of her head!
