Here’s one of the winners of the North American ‘Texture’ Stylist Award. Hair was done by Ritchie Roman, R-Rated hair… What do you all think? Nice texture eh?
Three very lovely cropped hairstyles, shaped delicately to the head shape, giving what I would call the Jean Seberg/Mia Farrow pixie look. Its looks like these that I hope will show women in America that short hair can indeed look soft and sophisticated and that its not just for that European look. Jada Pinkett Smith said it so well recently when defending her daughter Willow in her choice to have very short hair. I will post a link here as its definitely worth a read.

Here are some cool images I found from WMagazine… I love the photography, styling, hair and concept. Photographs by renowned British fashion photographer, Nick Knight and the hair accessories and hair are by Celebrity Stylist – Sam McKnight …Enjoy!
For those of you who don’t know her, Sophiya was a talented actress, singer, dancer and presenter, as well as a wonderful funny gorgeous human being. I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Sophiya during her MTV Asia/Channel V stint as a VJ in Hong Kong in the 90’s.
Since her VJ days Sophiya went on to star in many of London’s West End Musicals. ‘Bombay Dreams’ (by Andrew Lloyd Webber) was the musical afew of us old friends were able to last see her star in.. Fantastic and Brilliant Show. She also had a role in ‘The Wanted’ with Angelina Jolie and James McAvoy to name afew.
For more details on her story …. Sophiya Haque
Sophiya passed away last night to the shock of many friends and family around the world. At 41, she was way too young with way too much to offer still. With only several weeks notice she was diagnosed with cancer and died suddenly but peacefully in her sleep.
Sophiya was fun, she was adventurous with her hair and she allowed me to create and try allsorts of styles. If it didn’t work, we would try something different but we worked together for many years and she trusted that I would always make her look good. As my tribute to her I am showing you my favorite styles that I created on her back in the day.
You will me missed by many… Heaven will be welcoming one hell of a sassy chick! Love to you beautiful Sophiya, we’ll never forget you <3
Here’s an article I wrote for MyHairdressers.com website. Filled with my views on the Golden Globes Hairstyles. I wouldve loved to have had abit more say and added a few more good and bad hair but alas you can only say so much with 500 words right?
We have been using this line in Dekko Salon for quite some time now and so I have had time to play around with a lot of the products. I’m not usually a fan of hairspray as I usually prefer a texture spray at the end so that you can still move the hair around and I don’t normally like the stiff lacquered look that most hairsprays leave you with.
Anyway along comes this Moroccan Oil line and in with it is this Luminous Hairspray. It come in 2 strengths Medium Hold and Strong hold for however much hold you need. I have been using this spray on a lot of clients and what I find quite amazing about it is the fact the spray leaves the hair with a lot of shine, especially on long hair where usually the ends of the hair looks dry and over processed. It also allows you to move your hair around, as it is soft and flexible on the hair. No stickiness either!
Picture shows the strong and medium hold and one of the original packaging.
Extract taken from the Moroccan Oil brochure:
To use: Hold the can about 10inches form the hair and spray.. For extra volume, it can be sprayed on the roots before styling the hair. Can be brushed out easily without weighing down the hair and provides a reflective shield of sine that fights frizz and humidity.
Another member of the Korean band Miss A, These shots of Min were taken from the video ‘Bad Girl, Good Girl’ hence the slight fuzziness. I liked her asymmetric haircut and thought I would add it to my picks because it’s a style that’s simple yet by taking one side of the hair shorter it can add a lot more character to the shape. A shape all clients can relate to…
Not too sure about this one yet, I guess I need to use them to tell you exactly what I think, but anyway I just heard about these new ‘Hot’ scissors made by Jaguar. Basically you plug them in and they claim to seal the ends of the hair as it cuts and they can be warmed up to 310*F. So you would use less heat for finer hair and more heat for thicker hair.
The company made these scissors as well as a razor too:
So the claims are that if the hair is cut and sealed at the same time it would seal off the ends hence no more split ends! I pulled these pictures from the website to show you the difference in the ends if they work as they are meant to.The left is how a normal pair of scissors would leave your ends, and the right is meant to be the heated scissors! Anyway, with this one, you might need to tell me how this works if any of you have tried it.
The price of the scissors vary from $599 to $1,150..
