Sally Hansen’s Stick On Varnish..
I just felt the need to share my latest experience of stick on nail varnish with you. As a hair stylist I had given up on painting my nails because as soon as I had a painted it on, the varnish would either chip off or become goo-ey, because the ingredients in some hair products would start to strip away the varnish.
Then I came across an ad in a magazine introducing Sally Hansen’s stick on Polish!! This I had to try. So for my first attempt I chose a fishnet pattern and following the instructions and not even being that intense about it.
I stuck them on one by one while watching a movie at the same time. I was so surprised at how easy it was. Once it was pressed on, you then use the nailfile provided and file off the excess length! The hardest part about it I thought was the peeling of the backing, and you also have to make sure you choose the right size for each finger, as I had left a couple of half nails undone.
Nevertheless, I still found it successful and the best part about it was that I tested it with allsorts of products that I used on clients hair and I managed to keep it on (no chips or stickiness) for over a week and it stilled looked good. To remove it, you simply use nail polish remover, I’m totally convinced and I’ll be going onto my lace nails next : )
Here’s other colors that are available and also their ‘how to’ pics:
LOVE Shampoo
Sorry the pictures abit crooked!
Davine’s (I pronounce it Dav-ve-ness) LOVE Shampoo made for wavy and curly hair – the first thing I have to say about this shampoo is how lovely it smells!! It makes you want to use it just so you can sniff the lovely essences that Davines have used in it. This shampoo is rich, so for fine hair you need to be careful about using this, it could leave your hair quite flat, although very soft and gorgeous smelling. Depending on whether you like your hair to be on the flat side, I found the Love shampoo to be just abit too heavy for me even though my hair is very thick and coarse. But there again, I do prefer my hair to be rougher and bigger looking so do bear that in mind too when making your choice.
Again this shampoo comes in a handy travel size which you can re-fill over and over. Very handy!
Flowers From Fatima..
After being approached by Fatima to talk about showcasing some of her work on my blog, I had a look at her creations and thought it would be really nice to show you some of her new floral hair pieces, all are perfect for parties, weddings or just everyday wear – enjoy these accessories made by a talented passionate artist from Ohio.
First a few words from Fatima:

Growing up, my father decided to pursue a family run program for the improvement of our low-income neighborhood. Alone, my family and I turned the urban slum into a paradise. It was then, 7 years ago, that I found an attraction for natural beauty and have grown to connect with our Mother Nature in all ways possible. In mid-December, my father passed, but his vision and dream of hope lives through my flowers. Be beautiful naturally, let positive energy follow, and give the world a bright and hopeful image to admire.

Fibrous Products..
This Fiber Grease is one of the other products available from the Japanese Cool Grease line. The line ranges in different strengths and then there is this one which is made with fibers within the product, this allows for a stronger hold and makes the product a little bit tackier in feel compared to the other Cool Greases. This means its fantastic for styling shorter hairstyles, particularly Asian straighter hair, the hold is strong enough to be able to tweak and bend the straight course textures. But again water based, so easy to wash out if you use normal amounts on the hair.
Another product I wanted to mention which works in the same way (but unfortunately has just been discontinued) is the Sebastian ‘Threads’. This is similar to the above Fiber Grease but the consistency is much softer so therefore easier to manipulate into longer straight course hair. It allows the long hair to be made messier and more malleable. Shame they took it off the market!![]()
A Good Hairspray..
Nowadays I don’t tend to use Hairsprays much, I’m not too keen on the stiff looks it gives to hairstyles and I don’t like it when hair doesn’t move much. The only time I use them on clients is when the hair is very fine or its really strong weather outside and the style needs to keep well.
So if I had to choose one that I do like right now its the Davines Crystal Fixative Lacquer. I know I seem to pick alot of Davines products as my favorite but this Italian Company seems to have got quite alot of styling products just right, there’s alot to choose from so you really have to sift through them but once you find the good ones, they really are good. This hairspray is soft to medium hold, doesn’t leave the hair looking lacquered and brushes out easy without leaving white bits behind in the hair.
When using hairsprays and other texture sprays, lift the hair up for best effect, don’t just spray on top of the hair, it will leave it looking abit stiff whereas if you spray underneath, this will give longer support and hold for the heavier layers.
My Favorite Shampoo.. Nou Nou
I have been using this shampoo for over 4 years now. I love it.. The whole Davines line is one of the product lines favored by Dekko Salon. Manufactured by Italian company Davines – Nou Nou Illuminating Shampoo for color treated hair. I don’t normally like to use conditioner on my hair as I prefer to have it all ratty and feel fuller, so with the Nou Nou shampoo, I feel as though it is moisturizing enough on its own that I don’t need to use a conditioner as well. It lathers well and with one application, I feel like my scalp is clean and moisturized.
For those who do use conditioner, Nou Nou also makes the conditioner cream for color treated hair. I have tried it and found it to be not too heavy, so it doesn’t leave your hair too flat and soft.
Comes in handy travel sizes that I love, fillable bottles that you can use for a long time.
Wrapping up JuJu for Xmas..
With the holidays just around the corner, I figured it would be a good time to promote my Texture Powder Styler…this unique product would make a great gift for anyone who has flat fine hair that needs more body or oily flat thick hair that needs de-greasing!
I thought it would be a good idea for me to wrap them nicely (as they can be an awkward shape to wrap oneself, including instructions) so that its all ready to go!
After afew trips and long Q’s to Michael’s and Jo-Ann Fabrics, I came up with this idea…
![]()
I used a gold coin to represent the lighter shade and a black coin to represent the darker, it looks simple but believe me it was hard to make it look Christmassy without the tackiness of it all, and with my first version, I tried to keep it all natural looking and it ended up looking like a sack made from Jesus’ cloak!! I’ll show you just for a larf..

It had a round bottom so it just kept falling over!!
Anyway, once I was happy with my wrapping I ended up doing quite afew where they will be sold at Dekko Salon in San Francisco, CA. (sorry picture’s abit dark, it took forever!)
For online sales, if you like the way I’ve wrapped it, I can do some special wrapped orders but please drop me a line first at jules@jujuchan.com
Cheers!
Beach Waves…
I find some of Frederick Fekkai’s Hair Products to be great, this one is his heat activated Wave Spray which works by misting it onto the damp hair and using a hair dryer to create a tousled, ‘beachy’ look, by shaping it with your fingers while it dries.
I didnt love this one as much as some of Fekkai’s other stuff, I found it left the hair with abit of a dry and coarse feeling afterwards, with the hair frizzing quite easily. Some of his curly hair products gave my hair a much nicer softer beachier feel than this one did. Maybe this one might work better on finer hair?
