Jo Bellamy Salon

Beautiful vibrant collection from the Jo Bellamy Salon, Australia.. Love these!

Words From Style Icons:

The Couture Punk collection by Jo Bellamy Salon displays a sense of rawness contrasted with soft silhouettes which represent a more modern and feminine approach.

The colour is the hero of the collection, provides light and shade to define movement and draw the eye to the fall and shape of the style. The colours are vibrant; a kaleidoscope of shades which meld together seamlessly.

My Pick ~ Blue Bob

I tried so hard to find this haircut color combination without all the text/font on top of it but I don’t think this magazine is letting loose of it yet, hence here it is in all its glory complete with American Salon on top of it. But you get the idea.. I loved this look so much I couldn’t resist. Such a cute color and cut combination by Ricardo Dinis for Aveda. The choker is cool too may I add.  Ricardo is Global Director for cutting, not sure who did the color though but its blooming gorgeous!

My Pick ~ Two-tone

I love this hair cut and color combination. Simple bob style, razored to make it look like she’s cut her own hair, which is what makes it looks so hip and cool! I also love the combination of the grey hair with the blonde ends. Not sure if this is a case of hair growing out with the leftover blonde tips, but hey, that’s exactly how Drew Barrymore made the ‘Ombre’ such a big hit. Regardless I love the look.

Dekko Daily Grind–Helen

Remember Helen? She came in with long locks and Dekko’s very own Joni lobbed it all off and gave her the cutest little flippy do ever. She looked adorable. Anyway fast forward 2years or so and I wanted to show you another look that Joni had given Helen and how her look has evolved.

Here’s Helen afew years ago:

And here is Helen’s new cool classic precision look and it still makes Helen look very doll like and adorable. Thanks to Helen and Joni..

Angelo Seminara

One of the hairdressing greats that I admire so much, Angelo is the Artistic Director of Davines (Hair product line) as well as three time British Hairdresser of the year winner. Here is another collection of his that I wanted to show you all, because this is a demonstration of how great he is, with his ‘Mother Of Pearl’ collection.

In this collection Mother of Pearl comes into focus as a brilliant shimmering cut and color combination. By strict definition, it’s the iridescent layer of material that forms the shell lining of pearl oysters and abalone. These looks show the interpretation of Angelo working with international creative color ambassador Edoardo Paludo.

Hollywood’s Going Short – Again!

Not sure what’s in the water over there in LaLa Land but everyone seems to be cutting their hair off!  Pixies and Bobs, Pixies and Bobs!!

We know these short haircuts are not new, what with Charlize Theron, Michelle Williams, Miley Cyrus, although we wont count Beyoncé for taking out her weaves and creating news by doing so, but there’s definitely been a slew of new ones…

I first mentioned  ‘news breaking hair inspirer’ Jen Aniston who cut off her hair into an A-line messy bob, one rumor has it, the reason for the chop was to get rid of a bad Brazilian Blowout! (Whoops, there goes business for the BB company..) Other news states it was just for the change, but really who cares, why is Jen’s hair always big news? (as I write about it)

But some of the bigger recent changes come from these actresses who have decided to go for the pixie look, whether for movie roles or because Charlize Theron looked so great with it, I don’t know.. funny how there’s 3 Jennifer’s though?

Here is freshly shorn Jennifer Lawrence who always looks cute but in some of the pics I saw, her hair looks a little like the dreaded hair from Kate Gossellin (Kate plus 8) Eek, lets hope I’m wrong here,

Then we have Pamela Anderson looking gorgeous with her pixie, she should’ve done it years ago cos it looks so great.

Next up is  Jennifer Hudson, but there again, I have a sneaky suspicion she’s just taken her weaves out just like Beyoncé did. But anyway, what do you think of them then?

Dekko’s Daily Grind–Kristen

Kristen was new to the salon. She came in and wanted her long (past her bum) hair all cut off! She wanted to donate her hair to Locks of Love. For once I didn’t have to get the tape measure out to check that I have at least 8inches, we must’ve cut off about 14inches of virgin great conditioned hair. Someone’s gonna get a great wig out of this hair..

Anyway this is Kristin just as I chopped off some hair and then luckily remembered that I needed to chronicle it. Out came my i-phone before I whipped it all off.

We decided to take the length up to around chin level, and to bring out as much curls as possible. We were lucky because we both expected the hair to be ultra curly and very easy to frizz but in fact as soon as we took the length up, the curls were soft and very manageable. It was lovely curls/waves that we had to work with. Phew!

When we worked the shape and curls in, we used some style cream, twirled the hair in pieces and diffused dried it before shaking the curls out to create a messier look. Here is Kristin after:

Thanks so much for being such a sport and enjoying the process as much as we did..
