Lovely looking Parisian feel to this picture. Sorry I can’t give credit to who did the hair, but lovely anyway…
Akin Konizi
Came across these strong looks on Hairdressers Journal recently and thought I should share them with you.
Akin Konizi is co-director and creative force behind the successful hob salon group. Akin’s vision has brought hob salons to the forefront of the industry and in 2005, Akin was awarded London Hairdresser of the Year at the British Hairdressing Awards. This was Akin’s first nomination for British Hairdresser of the Year.
Since then, Akin has achieved outstanding success in the prestigious awards. Winning the coveted British Hairdresser of the Year title, two years running in 2008 and 2009.
“The mood for this year’s collection was inspired by strong hard signature geometry evolving into a softer, more wearable street look. In this collection Akin described these looks as Yves Saint Laurent 80’s tailoring, with and androgynous yet glamorous feel.”

My Pick–Short Bob
Yet another cute bob to help all you people who are thinking of changing their looks this year and are wanting to choose a variation of a bob. I love this one because it short, sassy and sexy, it has plenty of movement and also has that feminine short choppy fringe, Lovely!

The latest Bowl Cuts..
Not all bowl cuts look like your mum stuck a bowl on your head and cut around it, I’m sure we’ve all experienced a hairstyle like that when we were young! Or maybe just in England where short hair on a younger kid seemed to be more common, and then with my poker straight Asian hair it was a recipe for disaster back in the day.
Anyway, fast forward to 2014, I came across these adorable multi-tonal ‘bowl cuts’, taken from Hairdresser’s Journal. The hairstyles were done by Tyler Johnston and Lesley Jennison. The photographer was Jack Eames. The precise technique and skill required to create these modern, cute looks are undeniable. Well done, as we all know how hard these looks were to achieve.
Men’s Hair ~ Charles Worthington
We must keep ourselves updated with men’s hair more often, luckily there are so many fabulous new trendy ‘barber shops’ out there nowadays that stylists are taking more time and putting more effort than ever to produce great quality styles and visions for men.
Our set of hairstyles below are taken from Hairdressers Journal, Hair was done by Charles Worthington and the photographer was Marc Trinder. It features mainly men’s messy textured looks with a couple of sleek ones thrown in to complete the collection.
My Pick ~ Flick
I love this one because of the simple 2 color mix as well as the sexy sweep of the hair with the natural looking flicks at the back. One of my favorite techniques is to see the combination of black with brown or in this case, reddy brown, it gives it a basic yet striking contrast and would be great for any client who wants a subtle color change. This haircut was done by Antoinette Beenders who is Aveda’s Global Creative Director. Nice!!

Dekko’s Daily Grind ~ Jessica by Joni
I’m so glad I caught Joni before she made this change on her client Jessica. So often I don’t manage to get the before pictures and then it doesn’t feel so complete for me to post.
So anyway, Jessica is another one of Dekko’s clients recently coming in asking for a big change. She been Joni’s client for a long time and Jodi does her color for her. All I can say is, there’s been a huge influx of clients wanting big changes lately, so I just want to say Thanks to celebrity’s such as Michele Williams and Jennifer Lawrence and all the celebs having LOB’s (long bobs)
Joni gave Jessica a fantastic short haircut, tapered into the nape at the back. Sides were left long enough to tuck behind the ears. Top area was left longer for softer movement. Their inspiration was…
Here’s Jessica with her ‘before’ hair:
And here is after Joni snipped, blow dried, flat ironed and styled the hair, Fabulous change!
