Hair by Dove Palmer Part 2

Update – If slideshow does not start, see hair pics here..

Here is my 2nd round of haircuts to show you from Dove Palmer, I have chosen another 10 fantastic looks for you to check out : )

Dove Palmer is Creative Director for Vidal Sassoon Advanced Academy in London, UK. He also ran the Masters Academy for them too and has made 3 DVD step by step videos as well helped in contributing at least 12 haircut pictures for the Academy Photo collection. I came across Dove’s work on Facebook and instantly LOVED the exquisite work done by him. Funnily enough Dove turned out to have the same mentor as I did back in the day. Stacey Broughton (also from Sassoons) has been his mentor since he went to work for Sassoon’s. I definitely spotted the Stacey traits in the haircuts.

I have so many different styles to show you that he has done over the years that I have decided to split them up into 3 slide shows so that we can make the most of showcasing his work. Dove’s specialty seems to be on Asian hair, whether its because he tours to the Far East to do seminars so much (and for up to 4months at a time) or maybe its because his wife has so many friends that needs to utilise his craft, I don’t know, but whatever it may be, I’m so happy to be able to show you his creative work on Asian hair. Here is part 1 of 3, I will show you the others at a later date so look out for more of his precision cutting : )

Thanks Dove for letting me share with my readers.

UK Cool Mops (or Not!)

So when I go to the UK (England) I usually get soo excited and stimulated by all the different styles, whether in clothing or in hair, so you can imagine my disappointment this time when I didnt see my usual inspirations! I was hoping to come home with lots of pictures to show you of great hair, but alas, it was not meant to be, I managed to find 4 people who were willing to let me take shots of their hair. But never mind.. what I lacked in pictures of hair, I made up with pictures of great scenery and food : )
I found UK to be like everywhere else in the world this time and I think the world is becoming like ONE, you can find just about everything everywhere, not much individuality left in this world : (
So whether the world really is merging or whether it was just the fact that I was only in London for 3days and I was soo busy shopping that all the cool hair was just passing me by, I’m not sure! But enjoy anyway!

Dekko’s Daily Grind – Helen Ip

Every so often in Dekko Salon we get clients who really want to have full-on changes, so here we have Helen who came in to see Joni Shibata at the salon for her change.
Here’s Helen before her haircut:

The hair is in a long basic layered look with a softer swept over fringe. She wanted to have a much shorter asymmetric look, which was stronger, trendier and had some ‘pop’ to it, she brought in a picture with a slight bowl look and here was Joni’s interpretation of it using both scissors for the bluntness and a razor for the texture. Very cute and dramatic. Thanks Helen for letting us show it and letting us know how much you love it : )

Stevie Wong!!

Wanted to do a special post on my very good friend Stevie. I was lucky enough to meet Stevie during his younger days at MTV Asia, dancing around the offices as a Production Assistant.
Nowadays Stevie is a major celebrity interviewer and is based in New York, Hong Kong, LA, in fact he’s all over the joint interviewing just about every celebrity who is anyone out there! Check him out on Star TV’s
VIP Access on You tube interviewing everyone, very coolly too, I might add!

Stevie is also a huge reviewer of music:
www.wongiesworld.blogspot.com and media: www.wongiesworld.tumblr.com so you can check out and follow his thoughts, feelings and obsessions!!

OK, so enough Stevie promotion, I chose to have Stevie on my blog because he has the worst type of Asian hair ever!! That typical type of sticky out, swirly bog brush type of hair (sorry Stevie : () So we got him into Dekko Salon and got Scott Klasssen to do his magic makeover. Stevie’s hair was just abit overgrown when he came in and Scott decided to give him a short tight cute haircut that can me either stuck up or flattened down depending on what mood Stevie was in…

I think we can all agree that Stevie looks sooooo cute, its unbearable!! Thank luv’!! And thanks to Scott for fighting all those cowlicks and swirls…

Styling Paste..

Sumo Tech by Bumble & Bumble

Alot of people I know love this product, especially for those with shorter very straight hair, it is used as a finishing product to make the hair messier and clumpy looking, which I must say it does do very well. As I mentioned before, Bumble & Bumble are, I think, one of the best companies for styling products.
My only problem with this product is that the consistency is so stiff and hard that I find it hard to get it out. And then once out, its takes a little while to massage it in your hands to make it more pliable to apply onto the hair, without leaving any clumps of product on the hairshaft. They say you can warm up the product first by applying abit of heat with the hairdryer, but for me, its more about ease and speed, so unless I had alot of styling time in the mornings then I would tend to pick something else up thats easier to apply.

Hong Kong Hair..

I was flicking through some websites and magazines the other day and came across some fairly cool looking hair from Hong Kong. Movie stars and their hair in Hong Kong can be abit hit and miss, in my opinion, I feel that some go so overboard that it can look abit ‘tacky’ and ‘dodgy’, completely missing the mark of ‘naturally cool’ as shown in my post about Aaron Kwok : (
Anyway, I thought I would share them with you…

Above we have Bobo (top) Faye Wong (left) who I think always gets it right, and Du Juan (right, for Lane Crawford)

Next up is: Josie Ho, Joey Yung and Kate Tsui, all showing some nice haircuts off.

And finally we have Hu Jing (top), Leila Tong-Ling (left) and Maggie Sui (right)
