I know, I know, I just couldn’t help myself!! Posting this crazy ‘crap’ hairstyle for you all to check out!!! Yikes! Some people just love attention, don’t they? No matter how they do it…
At least the ‘art work’ is done well enough for us to work it out!
Hit or Miss??
Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate it………
Oooo, sorry Mr. but this is one is a huge ‘Miss’ to me I’m afraid!! Just about everything is a No No. The frizzy perm on top of the blow dried into place bottom section, framing the face and looking overly feminine just does nothing for suitability. The shape is way too round, and then there’s the color..Yuck!
UK Cool Mops (or Not!)
So when I go to the UK (England) I usually get soo excited and stimulated by all the different styles, whether in clothing or in hair, so you can imagine my disappointment this time when I didnt see my usual inspirations! I was hoping to come home with lots of pictures to show you of great hair, but alas, it was not meant to be, I managed to find 4 people who were willing to let me take shots of their hair. But never mind.. what I lacked in pictures of hair, I made up with pictures of great scenery and food : )
I found UK to be like everywhere else in the world this time and I think the world is becoming like ONE, you can find just about everything everywhere, not much individuality left in this world : (
So whether the world really is merging or whether it was just the fact that I was only in London for 3days and I was soo busy shopping that all the cool hair was just passing me by, I’m not sure! But enjoy anyway!
Takeshi Kaneshiro
Takeshi Kaneshiro:
Seems like there is a lot of lady fans out there so I couldn’t resist putting together my own collection of his hair and different look, personally I prefer him with his longer locks but hey, with this kind of cuteness, who cares, He can come anyway he wants : )
Here’s to keep you all happy for now, Enjoy!
Stevie Wong!!
Wanted to do a special post on my very good friend Stevie. I was lucky enough to meet Stevie during his younger days at MTV Asia, dancing around the offices as a Production Assistant.
Nowadays Stevie is a major celebrity interviewer and is based in New York, Hong Kong, LA, in fact he’s all over the joint interviewing just about every celebrity who is anyone out there! Check him out on Star TV’s VIP Access on You tube interviewing everyone, very coolly too, I might add!
Stevie is also a huge reviewer of music: www.wongiesworld.blogspot.com and media: www.wongiesworld.tumblr.com so you can check out and follow his thoughts, feelings and obsessions!!
OK, so enough Stevie promotion, I chose to have Stevie on my blog because he has the worst type of Asian hair ever!! That typical type of sticky out, swirly bog brush type of hair (sorry Stevie : () So we got him into Dekko Salon and got Scott Klasssen to do his magic makeover. Stevie’s hair was just abit overgrown when he came in and Scott decided to give him a short tight cute haircut that can me either stuck up or flattened down depending on what mood Stevie was in…
I think we can all agree that Stevie looks sooooo cute, its unbearable!! Thank luv’!! And thanks to Scott for fighting all those cowlicks and swirls…
Hit or Miss?
Hhmmmm, combination of a guy perm, mullet and asymmetric style?? (Oh, and lets not forget the ‘tash’) What do you all think?
I’m sort of sitting on the fence on this one, mainly because I see he’s tried very hard to be different and to stand out from the crowd, which I have to give him credit for, and even with all the combinations of potential disaster, he doesn’t look TOO bad!!
Jeff Rustia..
I was inspired by Jeff to write this post because of his creative and artistic nature and his ability to be such a chameleon with his hair and looks. I met Jeff in Hong Kong in the early 90’s and to this day, have not come across many guys who can change and look so good with so many different looks, so I wanted to share with you – Jeff’s ventures of hairstyles : )
Jeff Rustia – not just a hair chameleon, is the president of FRONT TV, which is a Broadcast Design and Branding agency, in Toronto Canada since 1999. www.front.tv.com
He is also Host of Club Fashion TV, www.clubfashion.tv which is an International TV show that features hottest club styles and trends around the world. and if that’s not enough –
Jeff is the Founder of Kol Hope Foundation for Children, the only charitable organization in N.America to help and support special children born with Chromosome disorders and Trisomy-related disabilities. www.kolhope.com
Impressive, I know, so here’s Jeff Rustia with his many looks… well done and Thanks to Jeff’s stylist.
New Invention for Barbers??
Found this patented new apparatus online…..
Well… Not sure what to think of this one. Four guys have come up with the idea of designing a detachable comb/shears apparatus, so instead of using 2 hands to do your scissor over comb technique, you can go ahead and just use the one hand!!!!
Sure hope they get this one made, I would love to try it for those full on barbering days and especially when I’m feeling lazy!!
Just My Opinion ~ Aron Kwok
Clippers versus Scissor Over Comb..
So what’s the difference and can you really tell?
The ongoing question that clients ask: Do you use the clippers or the scissor over comb technique? There is no right or wrong method to use but individual stylists have their own preferences and reasons behind using them, and clients too have a preference so there are some things that you might need to consider about both methods. Here I am going to outline the main basic differences between them, and trying my best not to favoritise !!
1. Clipper haircuts done mainly in barbershops or fast moving salons.
2. Gives a blunter sharper look to short hair.
3. Follows the head shape so therefore is you have someone who doesn’t have a good head shape, this will show up more.
4. Fast to achieve, so more clients can be fit into the schedule.
5. Simple choices of clipper guards, depending on how short someone wants to go.
Scissor over comb technique:
1. Takes longer to achieve as the shape is being built up
2. Can be controlled more when working around strange head shapes or bumps on the head, as the weight can be built up separately to hide flaws as the comb does not need to follow directly onto the head shape.
3. Hairlines can be abit softer and natural looking, blending into the rest of the hair.
4. Most medium high end salons will use this technique, opting to use the clippers to cleans necklines and edges only.
OK, I know, I know, I’m definitely into the scissor over comb technique as I can tell the difference in most cases, I know its great for young kids who want the fade or military look but for me, I prefer a style to look more natural and to have a nicer head shape and build up and to be able to work in a more detailed manner rather than just whipping the hair off. Hey but each to their own!
