Have you noticed how many bobs are out there nowadays? Maybe we can Thank the movie Gone Girl for its sudden influx but what’s great for me, is the mix of all these wonderful modern colors mixed with bobs of all shapes, lengths and textures Here’s a couple I came across recently, including Lily Allen’s.
Not all bowl cuts look like your mum stuck a bowl on your head and cut around it, I’m sure we’ve all experienced a hairstyle like that when we were young! Or maybe just in England where short hair on a younger kid seemed to be more common, and then with my poker straight Asian hair it was a recipe for disaster back in the day.
Anyway, fast forward to 2014, I came across these adorable multi-tonal ‘bowl cuts’, taken from Hairdresser’s Journal. The hairstyles were done by Tyler Johnston and Lesley Jennison. The photographer was Jack Eames. The precise technique and skill required to create these modern, cute looks are undeniable. Well done, as we all know how hard these looks were to achieve.
We must keep ourselves updated with men’s hair more often, luckily there are so many fabulous new trendy ‘barber shops’ out there nowadays that stylists are taking more time and putting more effort than ever to produce great quality styles and visions for men.
Our set of hairstyles below are taken from Hairdressers Journal, Hair was done by Charles Worthington and the photographer was Marc Trinder. It features mainly men’s messy textured looks with a couple of sleek ones thrown in to complete the collection.
I will always remember being told when I lived in Hong Kong that wearing/having green in or on your hair means that you are a ‘lady of the night’ (their words not mine) Since then I’ve always been conscious not to have green in my hair, whether it was extensions (which I had then) or even flowers while living in Asia.
But, fast forward 20years and with all these gorgeous green hair pictures floating around, how can we even resist! Maybe we should just be ‘ladies of the night’ even if for a short stint..could be quite interesting!

Our favorite model/client Kerina comes in and changes her hair quite often, this is one of the reasons I wanted Kerina to be the face of Juju Chan’s first product Texture Powder Styler.
This picture shows the first step to her next change ~ going blonde and going back to her fringey look.
I (as usual) forgot to take the ‘before’ picture until after we shampooed, hence the wet hair, but anyway you can still get the idea. We cut the hair a little shorter this time, but went for a full on rounded fringe. Jill (Dekko’s co- owner and colorist) used L’Oreal to start the first stages of going lighter. Hair was styled with Oribe products.
I will keep you posted with each step of the way to show you the finished result…
I love this one because of the simple 2 color mix as well as the sexy sweep of the hair with the natural looking flicks at the back. One of my favorite techniques is to see the combination of black with brown or in this case, reddy brown, it gives it a basic yet striking contrast and would be great for any client who wants a subtle color change. This haircut was done by Antoinette Beenders who is Aveda’s Global Creative Director. Nice!!
