Our favorite model/client Kerina comes in and changes her hair quite often, this is one of the reasons I wanted Kerina to be the face of Juju Chan’s first product Texture Powder Styler.
This picture shows the first step to her next change ~ going blonde and going back to her fringey look.
I (as usual) forgot to take the ‘before’ picture until after we shampooed, hence the wet hair, but anyway you can still get the idea. We cut the hair a little shorter this time, but went for a full on rounded fringe. Jill (Dekko’s co- owner and colorist) used L’Oreal to start the first stages of going lighter. Hair was styled with Oribe products.
I will keep you posted with each step of the way to show you the finished result…
If your looking for some inspiration on street hair, look no further than the Nasty Gal website. Quite often I find myself browsing this site as I admire their choice of models and hair. This post shows the great use of hair piece/extensions. The haircut by itself is strong and dramatic with the bold choppy fringe and cut off sides, but with the added combination of the longer razored layers, it creates an overall softer look.
Then as you can see, with the addition of the extensions throughout the back the haircut can be transformed into a totally different feel and look.
It shows us with abit of creativity we can quite easily change our looks out on a daily basis.
I’ve been meaning to pull up more fishtails and braids for you all, but kept getting distracted from the fishtails. Anyway here’s a start, I love these messy looks, just right up my alley. I hope one day I can get myself organized enough to make some ‘how to’ videos of how to get these great looks.. sigh, maybe one day.
I love this one because of the simple 2 color mix as well as the sexy sweep of the hair with the natural looking flicks at the back. One of my favorite techniques is to see the combination of black with brown or in this case, reddy brown, it gives it a basic yet striking contrast and would be great for any client who wants a subtle color change. This haircut was done by Antoinette Beenders who is Aveda’s Global Creative Director. Nice!!
Hhmm, has anyone tried this orbiting ergonomic hairdryer by Hot Tools then?Looks interesting enough but is it a gimmick? If you have tried it or know about it, drop us a line with your reviews, would love to hear them..
You may have noticed lately that my blog has been down.. Thanks to some infected bug/malware I thought I’d lost all my 4years of hard work. I really did think I was going to have to start from scratch.
Anyway Thanks to our new superhero IT man Paul Routledge.. All is ok in our world again!
Not only did he put it all back together again, but he did it with such speed and professionalism, we were so so grateful!
So if any of you have any IT website problems, I would not hesitate to contact Paul to sort your techie stuff out, its so important to have someone reliable and solid. He specializes in PHP MySQL JavaScript, Ajax, Json, CSS3, HTML5 Jquery, Jquerymobile C++ et al
Anyway, here’s Paul’s info for you.
And by the way – Paul’s a genius veteran Hair guy too, so if you happen to be in the Taiwan area, go get a haircut too : )

‘Straighteners to dye for – we find out what science has in store for our hair
Word in the science lab is that we may soon be waving goodbye to messy DIY dye jobs in favour of a much cleaner way to colour our hair – simply with the swipe of a straightener. Scientists at the University of Mexico and Los Alamos National Labs are developing a state-of-the-art technique using ion beam straighteners – hot irons that can permanently switch the colour of your hair. How does it work? They’ve developed irons that can etch gratings onto individual hairs, creating different patterns so each follicle refracts light differently – by scanning the colour directly onto the hair fibres. Only issue is that it’s permanent. However, the scientists also aim to develop a conditioner that can mimic this effect, which can then be washed out. But before you rush out to buy, research is still in its early stages, and it won’t be making it into our salons any time soon. But good to know it’s not just our phones getting smarter.’
