Maria comes to have her haircut once a year with me. She usually cuts all her hair off, then grows it through, has it long for a while and then comes back and whips it all off again. I love the fun of cutting off her long thick coarse hair every time. So this time I was happy to have my phone around ready to take snapshots of it.
Here’s Maria with her long locks when she came in:
We used the razor as well as scissors to achieve this look. The razor brought out the natural waves in the hair and we were able to keep the coarse neckline abit softer without having to scissor over comb it off. We then twisted the hair with a styling cream and dried it while twisting it. Here’s afew angles of her fresh new look:

‘Everyone, Jean Paul Gaultier has an announcement to make: More leopard print. Exemplified at his couture show, the French designer decked out hats, fur coats, floor-length dresses, clutches, and even wrists in the jungle print. Nothing was safe, not even models’ hair, which were be-speckled with the animal’s signature spots. While some heads sported sleek, aerodynamic twists, topped off with hats in various conical shapes, those without headgear got sky-high ‘dos. Swirly and sculptural.’
Hair by the brilliant Odile Gilbert who I chronicled in this past post..

We all got a bloomin’ shock when our ex-stylist Marisa, walked in after we hadn’t seen her for over 2 years. Marisa worked with us right from day one in Dekko and after 7years she moved on from us. I know she’s now a brilliant math teacher but jeez, She totally looked like Crystal Gayle! (although I’m sure she’ll kill me if she read this) She hadn’t had her haircut in years and came in to shape herself up again.
So here is Marisa before: (sorry about the bright lights)
And here is Marisa after we cut, chopped, sliced, thinned, hacked, twisted and dried her gorgeous wavy locks, it was fun to attack so much hair and yes Marisa, your still a doll, a very intelligent intellectually brainy math doll!
I know I said I wasn’t writing anymore articles for the site MyHairdressers.com but I came up with a good article idea to write about so once again I did my best to collect my visions to match my write up..
‘Scissors versus Razors’ give people lets people know the differences in the different techniques as well as helping clients know what to ask for when going off to the hairdressers.

We’ve just started carrying the new Oribe line at Dekko Salon and although I haven’t even begun to start using the whole line yet, which consists of 42 products, I can honestly say I’ve found a new ‘favorite’ product already and I couldn’t wait to share it with you!
The Maxamista Thickening Spray really does work. Its not just used on fine hair to make it feel thick, I have used this on all different hair types, even thick hair that I didn’t think it would do anything to. To my amazement every time I have sprayed it onto medium to long hair, it makes the hair feel fuller and fluffier. It gives lots of body and keeps the hair feeling very light yet controlled and smooth.
Every single client that I have used this on during our testing period have LOVED it so much, they have rushed out to look for it. Particularly good when used on long fine hair with layers, talk about bigger hair! I even used this on a guy with medium length hair and it made it look fuller and more controlled too.
And if you top it off with their Texturizing Spray (which I will do a separate review) you could end up with Big Texas hair if you want!
The only thing is, I know the words ‘thickening spray’ will put off people with medium to thick hair checking it out but it works really well on all textures with the control and smoothing factor so I hope people will give it a try despite the ‘thickening’ description.
I’ve been seeing a lot of Green Hair around lately, Is this the next craze or something? Anyone else liking it or do you, like me, think green is a tad too over board? Don’t get me wrong, I love all different hair colors but for some reason, Green is a hard one to like..
Maybe my problem with the Green began when I actually had green extensions in my hair while I was living in Hong Kong. (I must’ve thought it was OK then, to actually have them) Anyway that was when I used to teach hairdressing to local hair students, one of them came up to me one day and said..’Missy, did you know that if you have green in your hair, it means that you’re a lady of the night’!!!! Ah ha, no wonder I had been getting funny looks, I was giving off signs that I was available for the night..Well, out came those extensions right away, and I’ve never looked at green hair the same way!
Anyway I did manage to find and pull up afew green locks that I actually DO like, that don’t make them look like swampy green monsters, even though I have a sneaky suspicion a couple of these could be photo shopped!
