Dekko’s Daily Grind with Susie and her Color Bugs…

Susie has been a client of mine at Dekko Salon for quite a number of years now and she is just one of those cool chicks that just doesn’t have to try, she just is!

Susie fronts her band ‘The Blah Boutique’, has a respectable high flying job, dresses ultra funky and original and has a lovely personality to top it all off.

Every time she comes in, were always trying out new looks and fringes and whatever she’s in the mood for. Right now Susie’s on ‘Spockerella’ promotion!!  She wanted to combine Spock and Barbarella, Ha!  So in case you hear Spockerella mentioned out there one day, just remember you heard it here first from Susie.

Aside from being on Spockerella promotion, Susie changes her hair for every show she plays and with it comes her love of Kevin Murphy’s Color Bug. I wrote a post about dip dyed hair and color bug before for people wanting to use it for an ombre effect but as I will show you here, Susie uses it to a new level and get some brilliant looks from it.

Gorgeous looks, even though it may take the whole bug to get it : ) Thanks for the pics Susie x

Caboki Hair Loss…

I came across this ad today and usually I find these things to be really silly and gimmicky but I just couldnt help myself admiring the realness of the end result! It certainly GOT me, so I decided to post it to see what you all thought.. looks alot like real hair doesnt it? But how? Now that I did Not look into.. I’ll leave it to you!

Nicole Kidman’s Bob

I felt the need to post about Nicole Kidman’s bob.. Not even sure if this is a wig or whether she actually cut it all off,  but if it is a wig, it sure is a great one! Clients have already been coming in asking for this one, which I knew would happen but anyway here she is..

The campaign is for Jimmy Choo and she is sporting a sexy cute looking messy bob. I do hope that if all you mums come in asking for this one, just know that it has everything to do with how you carry it off, keeping it tousled and messy, what you wear with it and also wearing make up that will make sure it doesn’t end up looking  soccer mum-ish…

Oribe–Dry Texturizing Spray

Screen Shot 2013-07-01 at 2.36.11 PM

Another Oribe product to review, one of many, since they have around 42 products in their line, with another 5 brand new products since we at Dekko joined them 1 month ago…

I must admit that when I first used this product, two things struck me that I wasn’t too keen on..

1. The perfumed smell (I’m not usually one for having strong scents in hair products, its like battling with the body spray or perfume) and

2.The aerosol spray which seemed so strong, it felt like it was blowing the clients head off.

After using the more gentle Prive Texture Spray for many years this one felt abit too powerful when I first tried it, But after using it many times I have now got used to the perfume and the aerosol blast has softened out too and more importantly, I cannot deny that this product really works, it gives the hair TONS of body, big hair which my clients LOVE! Its also meant to be used as a dry shampoo that absorbs oils but I don’t find it  works too well in that department.

But if you want big hair with LOTS of body then you should check out this spray, its one of their top sellers so people are loving it.

Downstairs Dip Dye by Emma McCarthy…

Nikki found this funny article in the London Evening Standard that I thought I should share with you…Written by Emma McCarthy.

‘London is no stranger to a dip-dye. Ever since Bleach first opened its doors in east London, Dalston’s natural exhibitionists have been handing over their barnets in exchange for the salon’s full rainbow-hued treatment.

After two-and-a-half years of booming Technicolor trade, we thought we’d seen it all. But it appears that “seen” may be the operative word, because Bleach’s latest endeavour is to take its famous dyes south — and I don’t mean of the river.

Say hello to the Downstairs Dye — yes, Bleach’s famous dip-dye is now available for your nether regions.

“It’s all about matching your downstairs to your upstairs — and is really fun,” says Bleach founder Alex Brownsell. “It’s a more interesting way to accessorise your wax.”

Available at the salon’s newly opened haven for all things body hair, the Beauty and the Bleach grooming rooms will pretty up your private parts in any shade you wish for £40. But of course — for reasons I’m sure I don’t need to explain — the bleaching process has been approached with the utmost sensitivity.

“We’re extremely careful to mix the bleach in a certain way using the correct ingredients so as not to cause any irritation,” explains Chelsea Saunders, a specialist in advanced intimate treatments who was chosen to spearhead the new services. “We also apply a skin protector as a barrier so the bleach doesn’t touch the skin, and application time never exceeds 15 minutes. After bleaching, the colours we use are vegetable dyes, so are much more natural than the regular tints for the hair on your head.” As well as the matching collar and cuffs treatment, Saunders has also created a full menu of creative waxing services alongside eyebrow and eyelash tinting.

Just like its more public predecessor, downstairs dyeing is already proving extremely popular. Ahead of her wedding this year, 27-year-old tattoo artist Holly had her heart-shaped pubic wax dyed blue for a quirky take on her “something new, something blue”, while east London hairstylist Nicole chose a pink-tinted heart just to “make [her] boyfriend laugh”.

“Simple shapes, like hearts, stars and triangles, are the most popular,” says Saunders, “while people seem to prefer hot pink and bold blue dyes. But I’ve also done rainbow dyes. Basically, anything you could have on your head can be done on pubic hair.” Her most outlandish request? “I’ve had clients ask for leopard print — which can be done, as long as there’s sufficient hair.” Wild.’

Eastbound by Dmitry Vinokurov

East Bound
’Dmitry Vinokurov’s latest collection for Wella Professionals plays up structured styling and loud bursts of color.
West meets east in Dmitry Vinokurov’s take on Fusion—a 2013 Wella Professionals TrendVision category. The collection, seen exclusively on these pages, blends an Asian experimental spirit with Western high-culture to create fashion-forward looks. “Elements such as origami and Samurai helmets were our inspiration for some of the intricate designs,” says Vinokurov, who worked on the photo shoot with fellow artists Alexey Ladnov and Denis Skakunov. “Japanese prints and sakura blossoms were major influences on our color palette and placement,” Vinokurov adds. ‘

My Pick ~ Scruffy Bob Shapes

I LOVE LOVE LOVE these 3 shapes. Even though they are all quite simple hairstyles, you know how much I love my scruffy messy looks, they all look as if they were cut with razors, but not overly done like some Asian hair can be.

If any styles are going to tempt me to chop off my messed up hair, these would do it : )
